780 Calories Later......

I'm insane. Some of my classmates and I went to lunch one day in my friend Tana's car. I saw that she had a yoga mat, and I asked her how often she did yoga. She goes on to tell me that she is kinda into this Bikram Yoga class and that I should totally try it. Let me explain this to you. Bikram yoga is a 90 minute class done in a room that is in between 105 to 110 degrees with at least 40% humidity. Also, let me throw this out there that I have probably done BEGINNERS yoga like twice. What was I thinking when I agreed that I would go??? Anywho, my other friend Corey went with me to this class yesterday so that I wouldn't be the only beginner. I walked into that room and seriously thought..."What the hell am I thinking!" It was so freaking hot! I went to class in some shorts and a tank top....ironically I felt totally over dressed. When the yoga instructor came into the room wearing what looked liked his little brother's whitie tighties I couldn't help but think, "Uh, perhaps this class might be a little intense for me." The class started out with some breathing exercises and yes I was already dripping sweat. I don't know how the dude in front of me stayed hydrated. You know on the movie "Along Came Polly" when Ben Stiller is sweating profusely eating Indian food? Times that by ten and you have the practically naked man that was in front of me. Needless to say, I surprised myself. I only got lightheaded once and that was on this totally weird backwards posture. I'm not very good at yoga but I felt great when I was done with the class. I walked out of that place looking like I had just jumped into a pool. But no I had just spent the last hour and a half sweat my brains out. I read that you can lose up to 780 calories in one class. I also read about all these great benefits that go along with Bikram Yoga. I have to say although that class was super intense and how I got through I don't know, if I were staying in Ogden I might consider buying the unlimited pass. And unfortunately, I don't think any gyms in Nephi offer any Bikram Yoga classes. However, I think I would benefit from doing some yoga, so I'm going to try to get into it. Here are pictures of some of the postures and what they SHOULD look like.

That last one is where I got super lightheaded. No worries I looked NOTHING like these examples.

Good times :)

Festivities!

Yikes, I know I know, it has been a while since I have posted. SOOO, here is a little bit of what I have been up to lately. I know you've all been writhing with anticipation. Anyway, a few weeks ago my parents were invited to a Utah State basketball game. Because I am applying to Utah State I thought it would be really fun to go with and get a feel for the campus and the atmosphere. The basketball game was so much fun. Seriously I have never seen a more perfectly choreographed student section in my entire life. It looked so fun!! I found out in a couple of weeks if I got into the RN program up there. I'm not sure I should mention it on my blog in the event (that is very likely) I don't get nt....it's gonna be awkward to announce that I didn't get in lol. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Anywho, here are some pics!

Thanks poppa for the Utah State jacket. Heaven forbid I go to a game without Utah State paraphernalia :)

They stood the entire time!! All of them!

So like I said before the whole last section of school is OB and Peds. Our instructor gave us these really "life-like" babies to do assessents on. When class was over Corey and I decided to pile all of the babies onto a kid's desk in our class that we kind of like to give a hard time. We bonded with the babies.

Meriellen and I with our babies

So during lunch we thought it would be appropriate to try the burrito roll on Tana. We were laughing so hard cause lets be honest.....that looks weird

Chance is going to be a proud pappa!

His name was Kong. He had a twin brother in the class named King. Our instructors named them.

So I have been looking forward to this all year! I was so sad that I missed it last year. Its called the Holi Festival of Colors. There is this whole story about why they put this festival on. It may or may not have something to do with burning a witch so I'll just skip that part. But the festival is at the Holy Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. They tell the story of the festival, have some Indian dancers perform, and then do this big countdown and everyone throws different colors of chalk into the air. I was so glad that I had a bandana over my face when the whole thing happened. It was like a mushroom cloud of colors. It was so much fun! So what that my lungs are caked with scented indian chalk...I'm totally going back next year!

Pre-color madness

There were so many people!

Yeah she's in a wedding dress....

Simply Amazing! Shanti!

I THINK its a little bit of a rut

I have total technology issues and I can't figure out why my computer wants to download all my pictures over again so I don't have pictures for this post but I'll get it figured out. Sorry its been a little while I haven't had much to post about. First of all I got my Medical/Surgical final over with the and it was such a relief. I'm gonna vent for a second I had a complete melt down a week or so before the test. I felt SOOO overwhelmed. It was test after test after assignment after test after case study. I had seriously had enough!!! But I got through thae week and I was really happy with my overall grade. I was finally ready to take a deep breath. Our instructors keep telling us its downhill from here and that the OB and Pediatrics section is much easier. To my dismay, I am struggling! You guys kids do not love me. Seriously. I'm so awkward around them. My niece and nephew like me but they are the only kids that I know of. My favorite is when I say hi and their eyes water out of pure fear. Not only that but I'm not sure how I am going to deal with sick kids. I'm just a little bit of a basketcase over it. Also I'm whining because we no longer get any days off and we have 12 hour clinicals every wednesday that start at 4:45 in the morning. Its unnaturally early for me. Its actually a little gross. So while I'm venting I might as well discuss everything else thats going on my life, which lets be honest, isn't much. I've gone on a few.....interesting....blind dates. And let me just say watching a movie in a dark basement with your blind date inching closer and closer is not fun! What provokes this!?!? What myth says that this is a good idea and puts your date at ease. Also have a plan when you take someone out on a date. I went on a date the other night and we spent like an HOUR wondering around 25th street with him looking at me and saying, "Wanna eat here?" And everytime I said, "yeah that would be great". But then it didn't look good to him or he wasn't in the mood for a sandwich or he doesn't like any restaurants with chinese letters in the title. Ironiclly, we wondered around for so long that we didn't have time to eat before we had to be to the comedy club. So I ate a slice of a pizza and a refreshing glass of tap water at the club. However, it tasted amazing because I was so hungry. And of course during the act he has the balls to say..."Calm down" when I was laughing super hard at the comedian. I'm sorry, is it bothering you that I'm not miserable despite your efforts?? And of course we were on a double date and the other couple is hitting it off great. So they start kissing during the goodbye and I just sit in the car with my date standing next to the door. Should I have made conversation? Probably, but I was done for the night! Shout out to all the single ladies! Good times. I'm done venting.....I swear. Thanks I feel better.

Family is everything. I can't even begin to describe how amazing my family is. I seriously can't imagine doing anything in life without their love and support. I am so so blessed.

Its Been Interesting

So a few weeks ago my friend Corey from school told me that I needed to come up and go in the snow cat with her. I had no idea what she was talking about but I told her I'd come. It was super fun! Her friend has these snow cats that apparently drive in the snow....I don't really get what the point is but they are super fun. They can fit 6 people, have a heater, have a radio, and ours also had microwave in it. So we're out in the middle of no where when the snow cat decides to shut off. Doesn't sound like a huge problem, but you have to wait like 45 minutes for them to cool off before they will start up again. Yikes....luckily we didn't freeze and we made it back just fine.

Corey was thrilled when it fired back up!

So I'm a little bit in love...actually not a little bit a lot a bit. My friend invited me to the Trevor Hall concert at Valour in Provo. IT. WAS. SO. FUN. His music has a kind of reggae feel which I normally am not into, but I seriously love him. Its totally weird but I'm also super attracted to him. I know I know....

Super Mario the bass player. He was *Fantastic*

Trevor himself

Yup gotta have a picture with the annoying drunk person behind you

Chris Rafferty was the opener-yes thats a tiny ukulele he is playing

I don't know how to flip this picture but I love it!

All of the girls that went to the concert

Thanks Dottie for the invite! So fun :)

On Saturday my little brother came up to go snowboarding with me. We seriously had so much fun. The weather was PERFECT! We got up there around two and ended up staying until nine at night when they close. My little brother is definitely gonna be a great snowboarder. For how little he has done it, he is pretty freakin good. Thanks little brother for coming up!

Just as a last minute note....two weeks until my final for med/surg class and 2 1/2 months till I am done with school. YAY!

I've had an epiphany!!

Food controls my life. Seriously. I was thinking what I was gonna blog about so I just uploaded some photos and it hit me....they all deal with food in some way! I'll explain.

So one of my class mate's husband's friend (a little confusing I know) works for some shipping company or something and his truck ended up with a whole extra case of gold fish....the kind you eat. So he gave my class mate's husband all these boxes. SOOO...she brings all these boxes of "Flavor Blast! Gold Fish" for us to enjoy during class. I have to admit they have gotten me through many a lecture. When I get sleepy I grab me a handful of goldfish and I'm ready to go again! So here are some pictures to show my appreciation....

Ok so they are a couple of months expired....big deal.

A freeze frame shot seemed appropriate

So school has been absolutely crazy lately! My mom called me the other day and said they were going to come up to salt lake for some sushi and a movie. I was stoked! Knowing I got to eat sushi that friday got me through the week. It did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious and I had so much fun with my family. Side note: Avatar was a pretty good movie. Kinda made me want to become one with the jungle, fly around around on a dragon, and grow five taller.

So pretty!

Thanks mom and dad for dinner :)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!!! Just headed down to the jazz game on monday and realized...ooh I am terribly hungry I will stop at Arby's and grab a delicious cordon bleu. So I roll through the drive through pick up my sandwich and pull into the turning lane. So this is my thought process as I pull into the turning lane.
Hmm...thats weird that truck would pull out now, oh dear she is actually headed right towards, ah....she doesn't see me and she is going to hit me.
Boom! Turns out I was right! Next thing I know she freakin hit me! She slowed down right at the last second so it really wasn't that bad, just super annoying!!! If only I could have reigned in my hunger for the thirty minute drive to salt lake.....

Poor little Hyundai
